Many high schools require students to complete volunteer hours during their four years of high school. Connect with local high school to discuss the possibility of having students. Perhaps they can help those who are most frail with things like watering plants, hanging pictures or setting up decorations for the holidays. They might even help type up correspondence emails and letters. This can also be a nice way of providing friendly visits that are more directed and depend on strong social skills.
