Placing a suggestion box in the building lobby or in a highly visible location is a low effort way to gather continuous community feedback. The anonymous nature of suggestion boxes can encourage participation from diverse voices (including those that don’t usually speak up during in-person meetings). Just be sure to check the box regularly and acknowledge ideas received to ensure the community know you’re listening.
When you set up the suggestion box, include a sign inviting the community to offer suggestions on various topics such as activities, events, or information people may want to learn. If you have a more targeted question to ask, you can create customized response forms that can be placed next to the suggestion box.
Examples of predetermined questions include:
How can we help you to feel more comfortable living here?
What might improve your sense of safety?
